So we got to adventure out beyond the Olympic Park last night to eat something other than concession stand pizza in a bag or McDonald’s.
Plus we had to properly celebrate the US Men’s epic curling victory over Canada. What a game! It was explosive in the venue and boy oh boy were those Canadian fans not happy when the US fellas pulled out the big win. First time a US team has beaten a Canadian team in curling at the Olympics. What a sweet badge of honor.
Anyway - back to the food... we had a recommendation from some of the curling families to check out an restaurant a few miles from the Olympic Park.
It was called Ego and it was an Italian place. And the pizza was really great - so much better when it is done in a proper clay oven instead of boiled in a plastic bag. Plus some non-Korean beer on the side for good measure.
The ambiance was very cozy with brick walls and bistro lighting. There was just one woman who worked there and did everything - took your order, cooked the food... a real one woman show! Luckily it was a small enough place that she could handle it without being overwhelmed.
We tried 2 different kinds of pizzas - one Margarita and one with Prosciutto. They were a pretty decent size for one person.
So not exactly a traditional Korean meal, but a really great one to celebrate over!
Plus Joe Polo’s family ended up showing up for dinner as well so we got to chat with them, which made the victory celebration all the more fun. And they kindly offered to drive us back to the Olympic Park after dinner, so we could be on time for the women’s draw, which was so great of them.
A fun little break from the back-to-back curling game madness!
